My soccer connection is that my dad played soccer and he was the goalie. I love being goalie and when we played soccer for a team in Temuka we saw Ryan Nelson from Twizel Area School... LOL

3rd match:

Spain_Flag.jpg Spain vs Netherlands Dutch_Flag.jpg

Venue: Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador, Brazil

Score:

Spain: 1, Goal Scored by Xabi Alonso

Netherlands: 5, Goals Scored by Robin Van Persie 2 goals , Stefan De Vrij, Arjen Robben 2 goals

Tom's Players of the Match: Robin Van Persie and Arjen Robben

I couldn't pick just one player who was best because These two Dutch Players were both Outstanding. Robin Van Persie made a Staggering Goal in Stoppage Time in the First Half as shown down here and He and Arjen Robben made some good goals from some poor goalkeeping from the Spanish in the Second Half, The Dutch were superb at keeping possession of the ball, sending the ball down to their goal and back up to the Spanish goal. The Dutch are Ranked 15 in the World Football Rankings where as Spain are Number 1 in the World! This match was staggering.

Miss McLennan ... I used to flat with Alan Stroud who was a Goalkeeper for the New Zealand ALL WHITES
Alan Stroud is a former football/soccer Goalkeeper who represented New Zealand at international level.
Stroud played three official A-international matches for New Zealand between 1986 and 1995, the first two against Fiji, a 2-1 win on 19 September 1986, and a 0-1 loss two years later on a 2-1 win on 19 November 1988.
